The Rito of the Hebra region have been dealing with a massive blizzard raging above the skies of the Hebra Mountains. The Gerudo of the Gerudo region have been dealing with a “sand shroud” and unusual monsters called Gibdos. The Gorons of the Eldin region have become addicted to Marbled Rock Roast, causing them to ignore their work and become lazy. Spiritual forms of ancient sages appear to Link and his companions, appointing Link’s companions as new sages and passing down the Stones. Link further encounters Mineru, an ancient sage utilizing spiritual projection to stay in the physical world, and provides her with an artificially constructed mechanical body. This new ability allows Link to fuse objects to his current weapons, shield, or arrow increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect.
After venturing deep inside, Link battles a deadly flying creature known as the Thunderbird, followed by his own shadow, infamously known as Dark Link, guarding the third piece of Triforce. A mysterious Owl then approaches Link and tells him about a sleeping being on Koholint Island, the Wind Fish, and that Link can only leave the Island once the Wind Fish has been awoken from its eternal slumber. To awaken the Wind Fish, Link had to embark on a long journey and go through many dungeons to retrieve the Instruments of the Sirens. To prove that he is worthy to wield the Master Sword, Sahasrahla sends Link to find the three Pendants of Virtue, hidden in dungeons across Hyrule and guarded by mythical defenders.

Link meets Osfala at the entrance to the Eastern Palace, but Osfala simply laughs off Link’s warning about Yuga, telling the young hero that he is just as powerful as the Seven Sages were. However, after traversing the Eastern Palace, Link runs into Yuga yet again, who turns Osfala into a Painting, just as he did Seres. Link battles Yuga, managing to best him with the help of the Bow he rented from Ravio. However, Link escapes with the help of Ravio’s Bracelet and discovers he could now turn himself into a Painting and back at will with the bracelet.
